Oak Island NC: The Most Underrated Beach Town in North Carolina?
Oak Island NC: Is it the Most Underrated Beach Town in North Carolina? If you’ve been hearing about coastal North Carolina but haven’t looked into Oak Island yet, this might be one of the most overlooked beach towns in the state. In this video, I break down what it’s actually like living in Oak Island NC—from the laid-back coastal lifestyle to what you can expect in terms of home prices and cost of living. Oak Island is located in Brunswick County, just south of Wilmington and about 45 minutes from the Wilmington International Airport. It’s a barrier island made up of Long Beach and Yaupon Beach, known for its quieter atmosphere compared to places like Myrtle Beach. You’ll find 60+ public beach access points, a fishing pier, local restaurants, and a strong mix of primary homes, second homes, and investment properties.
We have some great drone footage of the island to help to show it off and we’ll also tour a home I currently have for sale (under contract) on Oak Island. This way you can get a real feel for what your money actually buys here.
Whether you’re thinking about relocating, buying a second home, or just curious about the area, this gives you a real-world look at one of North Carolina’s most underrated coastal markets. If you’re considering making a move to Oak Island or anywhere in the Wilmington area, feel free to reach out.
